Everybody who has ever trained with weights or wishes to build muscle has asked the question at one time or other. In fact, many are those who have it constantly on their mind. That question is, “what is the best way to build muscle fast?”
If you’ve been tried to build muscle you know it is not easy. In fact, this is what makes it even more worthwhile. A strong athletic body is something we all respect if not admires, not just for the aesthetic aspect but also because we know the amount work and discipline it takes. Even those who ridicule it do it out more of envy than anything else. But let’s get back to the subject.
There is no single thing that you can do to build muscle, leave alone build it fast. Muscle building involves several effective components, a synergy so to speak. Take away one component and the effectiveness of the others is compromised if not nullified.
Building Muscle Fast Component 1: Proper Nutrition
Proper nutrition or, to use the less appealing word, diet is one aspect of building muscle that’s on top of the order of importance. Yet this is the most confusing aspect in that there are as many different pieces of advice as there are individuals.
To build muscle you must eat more. However, this does not mean that you should load up on your favorite burger, fries and milkshakes. And, the traditional three meals a day just won’t do. Eat four to six (or up to eight depending on your metabolism) meals per day. To avoid confusion and overwhelming analysis, these meals should consist of protein, carbohydrates, fats and micronutrients.
Building Muscle Fast Component 2: Intense Resistance Training
To build muscle fast, you have to stimulate your muscle fibers to growth. The best way known so far is weight training. If you’ve not started already, get into a weight training program and learn the proper ways of pumping iron. You could hire a personal trainer who will design a program for you, or learn from books and videos.
You will often hear the phrase “no pain no gain” when among bodybuilders. This phrase is not quite true. Yes, you should train with utmost intensity, meaning to failure or each set. the “pain” of the muscle burning from getting worked is desirable. Other forms of pain such as joint pain from excessive weight may not.
Building Muscle Fast Component 3: Rest
Rest? Oh, yes. Your muscles actually grow when you are resting, not when you are training. And, there is such a thing as overtraining. If you don’t allow your muscles time to rest and recuperate, they will not grow. Also, overtraining causes energy levels to drop, and this in turn compromises training intensity. Take time off from the weights. Your body will thank you for it and reward you with more growth.
